The fundamental concept behind the Ancestor Archive - Genetic Image Gallery focuses on using photographs to view genetic traits of people, who share common ancestors.  For example each photograph shows genetic traits associated with a person's face, which includes the shape of the eyes, nose, and mouth, the shape of the ears, and the shape of the jaw line and hair line.  These traits are passed down from the common ancestor to their children.

By viewing photographs of people, it is possible to see the expression of traits that have been passed down from the common ancestor.  It is important to view a variety of photographs in order to see the most commonly passed down traits from each surname.
