William Vanderford Dowd, b. 25 Sept. 1823 in Hocking County, Ohio, d. 6 Jun 1889 in Webster County, Iowa, son of Alexander Dowd & Nancy Vanderford (1st wife).  He married Martha Jane Allison (1st wife) in 1844 in Ross County, Ohio.  He married Elizabeth Hill (2nd wife) on October 4, 1854 in Elkhart County, Indiana.  He married Rebecca Kinney (3rd wife) on November 21, 1857 in Boone County, Iowa.  He married Clarissa L. Spring (4th wife) on December 19, 1866 in Dayton, Webster County, Ohio.
